Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The food processing company Danish Crown is to close its slaughterhouse in Hjørring, in May 2005. 450 employees will be redundant although it is expected that a few of them will later move to the slaughterhouse in Horsens. The redundancy has created a crisis in the Nordjylland region which has already been struck by redundancy in a large scale. Some of the production will also be relocated to Germany. The redundancy in Hjørring has become very relevant in the current general election campaign, as an example of the effects of globalisation. The Public Employment Service is setting up plans for re-employment - strongly backed-up by politicians.
