Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Carinthian medium-sized firm Embatex, which is specialised in recycling and production of toner scrolls and ink cartridges, plans to centralise its whole production and distribution facilities at its headquarters in Feldkirchen. Therefore, the plant located in Bled in Slovenia with some 50 employees will be closed down. At a new-built production site in Feldkirchen, where €7.6 million have been invested, some 150 jobs are planned to be created. The new plant with production capacities three times as large as the two existing sites in Bled and Feldkirchen altogether will start production in the end of March 2005. According to the CEO, the investments have been effected due to increasing demands.
