Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 13 January 2005, the Japanese company Daikin, one of the world's major producers of air-conditioning equipment, announced its intention to build a new factory in Černovická terasa, industrial area of Brno, where Daikin Device Czech Republic will produce compressor units. In the first year, the company plans to invest €41 million and create more than 350 jobs. In the following years, Daikin expects to invest additional funds into the expansion of the Brno plant. These steps will result in additional employment opportunities for nearly 800 people. As early as in the middle of 2006, the plant should produce around 25,000 compressors per month and the company plans to increase this production capacity.
