Johnson Controls, the American automotive accessories manufacturer, is to invest €20 million in Slovakia. Following investments in the Martin and Trenčín regions, the company will also establish a new subsidiary in the Southern region of Slovakia, where unemployment rates are very high. Available infrastructure and low labour cost in the region are attractive for the investor. It is assumed that the subsidiary will create an additional 100-150 jobs in the region for subcontractors. The government promised a tax break of up to 50% for a period of 10 years. Support by the Slovakian government will amount to around SKK 497 million, which is almost 50% of the total investment planned for 2005-9 by the company. The tax break alone will cost around SKK 400 million .
