Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The medical centre of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam announced its plan to shed some 200 training positions in the next months. That is 4 % of the overall workforce (5000). According to the council of administration the centre has to cut the costs by 18 million euros in 2005. The council expects that most of the job suppression will happen by natural attrition, and an appropriate function will be sought for the remaining redundancies. A discussion with the trade unions will take place on 14 of December.
