LG.Philips Displays France, has announced its intention to cut half of its workforce. The unit in Dreux, manufacturing 29''colour display tubes, will lose 470 employees. Several employees should benefit from early retirement measures. LG.Philips Displays plans in the future to focus only on LCD and plasma display products. In 2002 and 2003, three factories (in Germany, Austria and UK) had already been closed. Only three sites remain in Europe (UK, Czech Republic, and France).
