Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Drugs giant GlaxoSmithKline has announced it is seeking to cut 100 jobs at its Cumbrian plant. Staff at the antibiotics factory in Ulverston have been told the company is offering voluntary redundancy to 100 staff at the site. The job losses are in addition to 400 cuts announced in September 2002, which were carried out over two years.
