Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The restructuring programme being prepared by the management of Poczta Polska, the Polish postal services provider, envisages the creation of four business units. 1 January 2005 will most likely see the launch of a postal services division, charged with providing services to Poczta Polska's largest customers. The unions representing Poczta Polska staff have expressed fears that the implementation of the restructuring programme will entail redundancies for as many as 30,000 people out of a combined workforce of 100,000. The management of Poczta Polska confirmed that 100,000 workers is too many compared to the needs of the company and that 30,000 jobs could be at risk.
