Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Publishing house Hollandse Dagbladcombinatie (HDC) Media, a subsidiary of the Dutch publisher De Telegraaf Holding NV will cut some 100 jobs in the next few years in the framework of an ongoing reorganisation of the company. HDC Media announced earlier that it would lay off some 180 people due to the restructuring. A total of 40 layoffs will be performed at the company's management, 25 will be dismissed from the company's advertisement activities, the staff of the editorial office of HDC will be reduced by 30 and six employees of the company's staff involved in circulation activities of HDC Media will be dismissed. At present, the staff of HDC Media totals some 800.
