Description
Michelin, the French producer of tires, has announced 2,900 job cuts in France before 2006, i.e. 12% of its workforce. There will be no dismissals, but out of the 6,000 retirements planned during the next two years, only half will be replaced. 1,900 job cuts will be in the headquarters of the company. The other sites that would be mainly affected, according to union sources, are Bourges with 192 job cuts, Poitiers, with 50, Roanne, with 51 and Breteuil, with 70.
