Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As a result of the adoption of the European Union Directive, Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne SA (PSE), a power generation group, has been implementing a restructuring process over the past two years. One of the goals of this programme lies in legal and organisational separation of the relay system operator; the Directive requires that dealing in energy can not be combined with relay, and likewise with any telecommunications activity - there must be clear functional division between the three. As a consequence of the related changes, PSE envisages the redundancy of approximately 100 employees through the end of 2004.
