Description

Northern Foods, which makes quiches, biscuits and other foods for Marks & Spencer, announced on 02 June 2004 that it was cutting 500 jobs and beginning a programme of restructuring. This would include the centralising of buying operations and the sale of a number of peripheral businesses. Mr Blackburn, the chairman, said: "The growing consolidation and reorganisation of the UK food retailing can only increase the pressure on producers and suppliers to deliver value to their customers."
