Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The DuPont de Nemours Group, specialised in the production of chemical products, has decided to close one of its four plants in the industrial complex in Asturias (Spain). The industrial complex required an initial investment of 156.26 million euros for its four plants and produced THF used in the manufacture of man-made fibres. The decision occurs after the DuPont de Nemours Group has decided to sell its Textile Division to the US Koch Industries Corporation, including the production plant in Asturias. The 90 redundancies are to be relocated in the other three plants of the industrial complex of Asturias. The Group tries to complement this with other indirect job reduction measures like voluntary redundancies. DuPont de Nemours' management announced on April 2004 3,500 redundancies in its factories in the USA and Europe.
