Description
Scottish Courage has decided to close its Tyne brewery in Newcastle and move production of Newcastle Brown Ale to Dunston in neighbouring Gateshead. Brewing of 500,000 barrels of ale will move to the Federation Brewery in Dunston, bought for £7.2m from NCFB, an ailing cooperative owned by about 300 working men's clubs in the north-east. There will be 110 job losses across the combined workforces.
