Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
This French restructuring plan of Alstom is part of a European plan, aiming at reducing the company's fixed costs in order to react to the failure of the energy market. At the end of April, Alstom has announced 558 dismissals in the French energy sector. At the end of May, the company announced 595 new dismissals. At the beginning of June, Alstom announced 350 new dismissals. At the end of June 2003, the following dismissals were effective: 300 dismissals following the closure of the 'La Courneuve' unit, 295 dismissals at the 'Belfort' unit, 100 dismissals at the 'Châtenoy-le-Royal' unit, 100 at the 'Velizy' unit and 125 at the 'Grenoble' unit.
