Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Grontmij is involved in an extensive restructuring of its operations. Costs are being reduced by lowering staffing levels.
Temporary staff will be reduced by 250 by the end of 2003.
Support functions at the head office will loose 35 jobs.
Indirect jobs will also be affected :
two companies (Advies & Techniek and Bouw & Installaties) will be integrated, reducing the number of their locations from 30 to 20.
In total, these measures to bring about a reduction in costs of 15 to 20 million euros a year from 2005 onwards will result in a loss of jobs ranging from 250 to 485. The saving in 2004 should be around half this figure.
