Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Levi Strauss announced a worldwide restructuring plan affecting 650 workers in Europe (300) and United-States (350). The measure is due to a drop in the prices of their products. Up to October 2004, 555 employees had lost their job in the European factories of Levi Strauss, 100 in Belgium and 455 in Spain. Levi Strauss had already closed its factories in North America. The now closed Spanish factories, were the company's last factories in Western Europe. In Europe, Levi Strauss still has production sites in Poland, Hungary and Turkey.
