Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Boots, the high street chemist and general retailer, announced it would close its production plant of Airdrie in Lanarkshire with the loss of 1,000 posts. The facility will close during the next 2 years. Boots said it would try to minimise the impact of the closure by offering some redeployment and avoiding compulsory redundancy over the first nine months.
