Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Canadian multinational company Magna, a world leading manufacturer in the automotive components sector, announced the closure of its subsidiary Rolam, with a view to relocate production in Poland. Rolam is in Altare, in the province of Savona, and now employs 140 people. Recently, the firm employed more than 200 workers and had already been involved in a restructuring effort. In the latest three years demand has been decreasing and the company recorded a total loss of more than 7 million euros.
