European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Van Oord nv has reached an agreement with the trade unions regarding two Social Plans. The Works Council was consulted and has advised on the reductions. Out of the total of 3,000 jobs around the world, 400 will be affected. The reduction is to be completed by mid 2004. The job reductions are a result of the integration process following the recent merger between Van Oord ACZ and Ballast Ham Dredging. In addition there is a decrease in demand for marine and dredging work around the world. The methods to be used are intermediation from job to job, the expiry of temporary employment contracts, natural turnover and an early retirement arrangement. Redundancies are expected for around 170 Dutch employees and some 80 workers abroad.
