Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Merck Santé, subsidiary of Merck KGaA, announced a restructuring programme for its production and research and development (R&D) units in France. 320 jobs are affected at the Lacassagne (Lyon) unit. Half of the R&D department will be closed by the end of 2004 and half of the production department will be closed by mid-2006. Production will be transfered to the unit of Semoy (Loiret) and in Spain.
The idea of the restructuring plan comes from two studies: 'Ipso' and 'Everest' from Boston Consulting Group and Accenture.
