Description
The Children's Society is set to cut 115 jobs — more than 10% of its workforce — in a bid to save £5 million a year. The charity has been experiencing financial difficulties for years. At a time when charities are operating in a very competitive climate, it is essential to be able to demonstrate to donors that their money is well spent, i.e. spent on beneficiaries, not staff. Unions point out that these cost reduction measures take very little into account the increasing problems of stress and burn-out of staff in the voluntary sector.
