Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Due to big losses in 2002 (82 million euros), the new CEO of Charles Jourdan, shoe manufacturer, has imposed a restructuring plan involving 233 job cuts. There will be 73 direct dismissals, 75 early retirement and 85 relocations within the group. In October 2003, the company was taken over by Lux Diversity. In February 2004, management announced 47 job cuts.
