Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In 2002, Gemplus announced a restructuring programme involving more than 800 lay-offs. The objective was to achieve savings of 100 million euros before the end of 2004. In April 2004, the programme was completed and saw the reduction of the workforce by 813.
