Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Albany International announced a restructuring plan involving its facilities in Dieren (Netherlands) and Bury (Lancashire, England). This is part of the company's continuing effort to match capacity to the demand for paper machine clothing.
At the Bury facility, it should affect up to 50 of the 130 people employed. At the Dieren operations, all manufacturing would be discontinued and would affect approximately 280 employees. The proposal is subject to review under local law and would be carried out in consultation with the works councils and trade unions.
