Description
Gesundheit Nord (Geno), a German municipal hospital group based in Bremen, announced the elimination of roughly 500–600 positions as part of its restructuring strategy.
The cuts target staff at Klinikum Bremen-Ost, where the hospital will transition to a solely psychiatric focus and transfer specialties such as surgery, neurology, geriatrics and dermatology to Geno’s Mitte and Nord sites within Bremen. The move is driven by looming insolvency risks and persistent financial deficits; it aims to streamline services and strengthen economic viability while preserving critical care in the city.
Employee representatives were informed via a company newsletter, signalling ongoing dialogue with staff.
Gesundheit-Nord employs around 8,000 employees.
