Description
Aryzta, a Swiss bakery group, announced plans to consolidate its German operations by closing its plants in Gerolzhofen (Bavaria) and Nordhausen (Thuringia) and cutting approximately 250 jobs.
The decision is driven by cost pressures and the need to rationalise the product portfolio in Germany’s price-sensitive market.
The restructuring, scheduled for implementation in 2027, will affect around 600 employees across the two sites. Production for retail and foodservice will be centralised at Eisleben in Saxony-Anhalt, where 350 employees from the closed plants will be relocated.
Aryzta operates five plants in Germany, employs around 2,000 people nationwide, and has its largest site in Eisleben.
