Description
Avatel, a Spanish telecommunications operator owned by Inveready, has announced the dismissal of 444 staff positions from its current workforce of 1,325 employees in Spain.
The layoffs, part of an internal restructuring prompted by worsening economic results and the return of subsidies linked to 5G rollout projects, are driven partly by accelerated digitalisation with AI systems replacing redundant roles. Unions have engaged in dialogue over the plan.
Avatel has previously implemented similar collective dismissals in 2024 Avatel 2024-ES and 2026Avatel 2026-ES, with job redundancies of 674 and 302 jobs, respectively
