European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
System House, an Italian CRM/BPO services provider, announced 525 job cuts across nine Italian regions (Abruzzo, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Liguria, Piedmont, Puglia, Sicily and Umbria), affecting 500 customer service operators and 25 employees in staff and indirect functions. The planned workforce reduction is linked to declining business volumes and the increasing automation of customer care activities through the adoption of artificial intelligence and digital process automation technologies.
Following the announcement, sectoral trade union organisations highlighted other recently announced workforce reduction plans in the Italian CRM/BPO sector and declared a state of agitation for workers in the industry. The unions also renewed their request for the opening of an interministerial discussion forum on the sector's employment situation.
