European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
1&1 Versatel, a subsidiary of the German internet services company United Internet, announced the reduction of around 350 full-time positions.
The restructuring aims to increase productivity and prepare the company for further investments. It includes changes to organisational structures, processes and IT systems, as well as the simplification of management structures and the reduction of hierarchical levels.
All job cuts are being implemented through voluntary programmes and age-based retirements rather than direct dismissals.
1&1 Versatel employs around 1,350 people in Germany.
The restructuring was announced on 10 September 2026, with no completion date specified.
The reductions form part of a wider restructuring programme at United Internet, which announced around 800 job cuts across 1&1 Versatel and IONOS, including around 225 IONOS positions in Germany: Ionos 2026 - DE.
