European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Himolla, a German furniture manufacturer, announced the elimination of 175 positions at its production plant in Taufkirchen (Bayern) following an insolvency filing in June 2026 and subsequent reorganisation under self-management from September 1, 2026. 540 jobs will remain at the site in Taufkirchen.
Jobs in final production and related fields, as well as in administration, are affected.
The restructuring is driven by a sharp decline in the furniture market, weak construction activity, and intense competition from low-wage producers, prompting cost cuts to safeguard the business’s long-term viability.
Negotiations are underway with the works council over a social plan to mitigate the impact of the job losses.
The 175 jobs are lost because the final assembly division in Taufkirchen will be closed and relocated to Slovakia and Hungary.
Himolla has more than 2000 employees across multiple sites in Germany and other countries.
