Description

Aerospacelab, a Belgian aerospace firm based in Marcinelle, announced the creation of approximately 500 jobs, after winning a €2.4 billion contract for the EU satellite network Iris². The company will grow its workforce from about 500 to roughly 1 000 employees at its new 16 000 m² satellite plant, making it Europe's largest satellite factory.

All new jobs will be located in Marcinelle and the expansion will conclude by the end of 2029. The growth is driven by a major EU space programme investment that positions Aerospacelab at the forefront of satellite technology and fulfills the contractual requirement to produce 264 out of 348 satellites for the Iris² network.

The project supports Europe's strategic autonomy in satellite communications and aligns with high-tech industry development.
