European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Cheminova, a Danish pesticide manufacturer owned by US group FMC and operating as FMC Rønland, announced on 1 September 2026 the closure of its plant at Rønland, Lemvig municipality, Western Jutland. Around 385 employees will be dismissed, with the site ceasing operation at the end of 2026.
FMC links the decision to optimising its global production, following losses of about DKK 3 billion over three years and longstanding environmental problems as the company was producing pesticides not allowed in the EU and was exporting them to developing countries.
All 385 losses are direct dismissals; affected staff were offered crisis-psychologist support.
FMC has entered consultations with the local works council. Employment Minister Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen indicated that support running into millions of kroner could be available if Lemvig municipality applies to the national early-warning fund. Mayor Jens Lønberg Pedersen requested government help to create new jobs.
The plant is Lemvig's largest workplace, and the site will not continue operating.
