European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Wonderplant, a Greek company active in hydroponic agricultural production, is creating 300 direct permanent jobs at a new hydroponic tomato greenhouse facility in Mavropigi, Eordaia, near Ptolemaida in Western Macedonia. Works on the approximately €130 million investment started on 23 July 2026. The new facility will cover around 300 stremmata and is designed to produce approximately 20,000 tonnes of fresh table tomatoes annually. It will also include a 30 MW high-efficiency combined heat and power unit. The investment is supported by €63 million from the Just Transition Fund and forms part of efforts to develop new productive activities on former lignite land in Western Macedonia. Gradual operation of the new facility is expected to begin in early 2027, with full development targeted by the end of 2027. Wonderplant currently employs 439 workers at its existing hydroponic greenhouse facility in Petrousa, Drama, which provides the model for the new Ptolemaida investment.
