European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
JD Sports, a British sportswear retailer, is set to create roughly 100 new jobs across its expanded retail network in Spain. The company will open four new stores and enlarge the La Maquinista store in Barcelona, adding space for more products and improving the customer experience. New outlets are planned for Madrid’s Príncipe Pio shopping centre, Valladolid, La Línea de la Concepción and Bilbao. These openings aim to strengthen JD Sports’ presence in key urban markets by offering larger, more innovative retail spaces that cater to evolving consumer habits. The job creation will be concentrated mainly in Madrid and Barcelona, with additional roles spread across the other new locations. JD Sports currently employs over 3 100 staff in Spain and intends to reach a total of 138 points of sale by early 2027, further consolidating its retail footprint throughout the country.
