Description

The office of the Government of the Czech Republic (Úřad vlády ČR), a central government body responsible for tasks relating to the professional, organisational and technical support of the activities of the Czech Government and its bodies, announced that it will cut 243 positions in Prague, reducing its workforce from 643 to roughly 400 employees by the end of the year.

The announced reduction of approximately 243 positions at the Government Office does not equate to the same number of job losses, as a portion of the workforce is being reallocated to ministries. In particular, 22 positions have been transferred to the Ministry of Justice, 10 to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, and additional positions to the Ministry of Health.

This measure is being implemented primarily with the aim of reducing the Office’s budget to 820 million CZK in 2026.
