Description

Lenzing, an Austrian fibre manufacturer, announced a total workforce reduction of 2,255 positions across its global operations, primarily affecting production plants and corporate administration.

The cut includes 1,400 jobs tied to the sale of its Indonesian facility, 340 staff at the headquarters in Upper Austria and 285 employees at Heiligenkreuz in Burgenland: [Lenzing 2025 - AT] ( https://apps.eurofound.europa.eu/restructuring-events/detail/204015), and 230 workers in Grimsby, England, with additional reductions expected by 2027.

The restructuring is driven by intensified competition from Asian producers and an industry shift toward non-woven fibres, aiming to realign the company’s focus on higher-margin products. The Austrian company, which supplies manufacturers and brands with wood-based materials, generated turnover of €2.60 billion in its 2025 financial year, down 2.3 per cent.
