European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
BBS Automation, a German machinery and plant engineering company and a subsidiary of Dürr, has announced the reduction of around 500 positions worldwide, including approximately 200 jobs across four sites in Germany. The job cuts are scheduled to be completed in 2027. The company makes part of its business with production equipment for the automotive industry, especially for electric cars. In addition, the company offers, among other things, systems for the production of medical devices such as syringes.
The downsizing programme forms part of an efficiency strategy aimed at achieving annual savings of around €30 million. The reduction is attributed to weak demand in the automotive sector and subdued investment activity.
The company intends to enter into negotiations with employee representatives to determine how the job cuts will be implemented.
In 2025, BBS Automation had already announced 500 job cuts worldwide Dürr - DE, around half of which were in Germany Dürr - DE.
BBS Automation currently employs approximately 2,500 people worldwide.
