European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
EDF, the electricity supplier is closing its thermal central in Cordemais (Loire-Atlantique) in March 2027. The closure affects the plant's 327 employees and 52 port workers linked to the coal terminal. According to the 2025 law, the coal centrals had a timeline to switch to less polluting.
The restructuring directly affects 327 EDF employees at the Cordemais plant, as well as 52 port workers and around 180 subcontractors impacted by the closure of the power station and coal terminal. EDF stated that there will be no redundancies and that employees will receive individual support and redeployment assistance. Framatome will take over the site for nuclear tube factory, and create 150 to 200 jobs by the end of 2028.
Several large-scale restructurings have been recorded in the ERM database, with the latest in EDF 2025 - FR.
