Description

Trützschler, a German textile machinery manufacturer, announced the elimination of around 200 positions at its Mönchengladbach plant by the end of July 2026.

The restructuring will involve the complete cessation of production activities at the site. The decision follows intense competitive pressure and the impact of the Iran war, as many of the company's customers have withdrawn their orders, making production at the facility no longer profitable. By contrast, the company's operations in India and China have experienced a less pronounced downturn.

The company, together with the trade union IG Metall and the works council, is now seeking to negotiate a social plan for the affected employees.

The Mönchengladbach site will remain the company's headquarters, while departments such as electronics and service operations will continue to be based there. As a result, around 300 jobs will be retained at the site. Before the restructuring, approximately 500 people were employed there.
