Description

UPS, a multinational American parcel delivery company, announced 525 job cuts at its Diegem facility in Belgium. The layoffs will mainly affect drivers and loaders at the Diegem site. Formal negotiations on the workforce reduction are scheduled to begin in September 2026.

UPS is replacing permanent staff with cheaper subcontractors as part of a cost-saving strategy. Trade unions have expressed concerns regarding the motives of the company management. The cuts represent a significant proportion of the 800 jobs at the Belgian operation.
