European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Acca, a Chinese-run logistics firm operating in Italy, announced the closure of its distribution center in Carmignano, Prato, resulting in 100 job cuts. The restructuring follows the company’s decision to cease operations at the site, with trade unions claiming that business activities will be transferred to other warehouses rather than discontinued, after a period of unionisation and formalisation of working conditions in the facility. The Sudd Cobas union has reacted by organising an indefinite strike and picket, opposing the closure; the case is also embedded in a broader context of labour exploitation disputes and legal investigations.
