Description

Channel 21, a German teleshopping broadcaster headquartered in Hannover, announced the permanent shutdown of its operations by the end of May 2026, resulting in the dismissal of 166 employees.

The closure follows a prolonged insolvency process initiated by the Hannover court, amid a broader decline in linear television viewership and intensified competition from e-commerce and social-commerce platforms. The company’s financial losses and lack of investor interest culminated in the decision to cease broadcasting.

All 166 staff members were dismissed directly.

The shutdown will leave no operational sites in Germany.
