Description
Zespół Elektrowni Pątnów-Adamów-Konin SA (ZE PAK), a Polish energy group, announced further restructuring of employment in its mining subsidiaries. Around 700 jobs are expected to be cut in 2026, as employment in two mining companies is planned to fall from around 900 to around 200 people by the end of the year.
The restructuring is linked to the end of lignite extraction at the Tomisławice open-pit mine and the group’s broader transition away from lignite-based power generation. ZE PAK operates coal, biomass, wind and solar power assets in Poland. The job reductions form part of the company’s low-carbon transition, renewable energy development and efficiency measures.
Affected workers may use protective measures and support under the “Road to employment after coal” programme. The costs of the employment restructuring are expected to be largely covered by the Ministry of State Assets.
