Description
Kraus & Naimer, an Austrian switchgear manufacturer, announced the closure of its production plant in Karlsruhe, Germany, affecting 120 employees. The shutdown is part of a broader realignment of the company’s European production structure, announced by the firm in April 2026. The company aims to increase its efficiency and improve its logistics processes by relocating production to Austria and Hungary.
Negotiations with the works council are underway to develop a social plan for the impacted workers. The plant’s permanent closure will eliminate all production activities at that site, with no remaining operations in Germany.
Founded in 1907, Kraus & Naimer is headquartered in Vienna and employs around 800 people worldwide.
