Description
The printing press manufacturer Manroland Sheetfed announced the closure of its plant in Offenbach, resulting in 744 job cuts. The company informed employees about this decision at a meeting on 20 April 2026. Most of the job losses are planned to be implemented by 1 June 2026, while around 80 employees will remain until the end of the year. The remaining staff will stay to prepare the sale of the spare parts and service business.
The closure of the plant follows the company’s insolvency, as no investor could be found. The decision was preceded by heavy financial losses in recent years, including losses of around EUR 43 million in 2025.
The trade union IG Metall criticised the company for failing to invest sufficiently and is calling for talks on a social plan.
Manroland was founded in 1871 and was taken over by Langley Holdings in 2012.
