Description

Ficosa, a Spanish automotive components manufacturer, is preparing a collective redundancy plan (ERE) affecting 172 employees at its Viladecavalls (Barcelona) plant, representing approximately 21% of the site’s workforce of around 800 employees.

The company attributes the restructuring to a sustained decline in activity within the automotive sector, driven by the transition towards electric vehicles and changing market demand. Although Ficosa is actively pursuing diversification into the defence industry to offset falling automotive production, these new activities are not expected to generate comparable employment levels.

The ERE will apply exclusively to the automotive division at Viladecavalls, while Ficosa Internacional, also based at the site, will remain unaffected.
