Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Affilogic, is a biotherapy company based in Nantes that in 2020 relocated the production of nanofitin molecules, previously outsourced to Portugal.
Nanofitins are protein molecules with properties similar to antibodies but 20 times smaller and 10 times more resistant. Affilogic received 25 million euro State aid to fortify its focus on developing nanofitins and facilitate the relocation of production. Through this operation, the company, which employed 29 people, aimed to transition from research to producing drug prototypes and managing the entire process in-house. The establishment of a new production unit, with an investment close to 5 million euros, was set to consolidate the company's activities, contributing to job creation, with the workforce projected to reach nearly 50 employees by the end of 2023.
