Description
The Dutch Ministry of Defence announced a recruitment drive that will add 900 personnel this year, bringing its total strength from 74,000 to 100,000 by 2030. The expansion focuses on a range of roles including medical staff, security, logistics planners, and IT and cyber specialists, with new trainees already being trained in a Cyber Academy: Ministry of defence 2025 - NL.
The expansion is driven by heightened security concerns, including the war in Ukraine and growing cyber threats, as well as commitments to NATO. Defence is investing structurally in personnel, with an annual budget of around €260 million for workforce expansion. The increase in staff concerns the Netherlands as a whole and covers a broad range of functions, including professional soldiers, civilian staff and reservists.
