European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
HME Brass France, a French company specialised in brass bars and wires, announced 117 job cuts at its Boisthorel site in Rai (Orne). 111 jobs will be cut and 6 jobs will be created.
The restructuring is driven by a sharp decline in brass demand and a need to pivot to copper-based activities, aligning with market evolution. The company has launched a plan to safeguard employment, with unions and elected representatives engaged in negotiations. The new structure will keep the plant operational while converting key production lines to copper, and preserving core competencies. The company aims to also put in place a information and advice center to support employees during the restructuring.
